Honeycomb smocked sundress tutorial + Flip update

Remember this little sundress I made a few weeks ago? Today, you can find me over at the amazing Sew Mama Sew, where I share a tutorial on how to make it. It’s really simple, and you won’t have to do any calculations – just consult the accompanying pdf-file in which I did all the work for you 😉
For the tutorial, I made a new version of the dress in some gorgeous fabric donated by the generous people of Birch (producers of organic fabric, and awesomeness more generally).
And do you like the handmade ceramic buttons I used? In about 2 weeks, you can win some of your own right here…

Meanwhile, this month’s Flip This Pattern contest has yielded its first fabulous creations! Seven flips by sew-alongers have been uploaded so far (see bottom of this post), and, judging by the number of people who bought the pattern with the discount code FLIP in the last couple of weeks, many more will be added.

And no wonder! Emily and Ashley have revealed the prize package for the sew-along winner, and it looks pretty sweet! Unless you you’re not interested in yards and yards of free fabric, and patterns, of course.

If you’re looking for some flipspiration – yes, I came up with that brilliant contraction all by myself – I strongly advise you to check out the first ‘official’ participant’s flip. Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House did nothing less than turn the Tinny dress into a (reversible!) Tinny jacket! Swoon over her fabulous creation here

Three more amazing bloggers will be flipping Tinny this month: Ana Sofia (S is for Sewing), Mie (Sewing Like Mad), and Heidi (Elegance and Elephants). What a contest…

  1. This is such a cute dress! The honeycomb seems simpler to do than I would have imagined. Can't wait to flip the tinny! Need to get on it! 🙂
